Government Announces the New Mesothelioma Scheme 2008

On 1st October 2008, the Government introduced the Mesothelioma 2008 Scheme.  The new scheme means anyone diagnosed with mesothelioma will receive a Government lump sum payment regardless of the source of exposure to asbestos.  Anyone who currently could not claim the 79 Act payment will now receive a lump sum.  You will benefit for the scheme for example if mesothelioma has been contracted through self employment or environmental exposure.  To find out more click on the compensation button and scroll down to the Mesothelioma Scheme 2008.

Derbyshire Asbestos Support Team (DAST) offers a free, confidential service to anyone with an asbestos related disease or their families. We provide help and support with Industrial Injury Disablement Benefit and the Workers Compensation Scheme.

We also provide help with completing forms, access to benefits and counselling, plus help signposting for civil compensation.

We are based in Chesterfield, but will carry out home visits within the East Midland area.We will endeavor to provide advice and information to anyone where no other local support group is set up.

Our service is FREE and we rely on donations to carry on the service.

DAST was established as a result of the growing numbers of asbestos related disease sufferers and their families who were wanting information and advice about asbestos related diseases and where they can get access to compensatation and benefits.

If you are told you have an asbestos related disease, then please contact us for an appointment on 01623 748161 or email us at mail@asbestossupport.co.uk
